Richmond, Virginia Divorce Lawyer
Our clients live throughout the state of Virginia, including Richmond, Mechanicsville, Glen Allen, Chester, Colonial Heights, Petersburg and surrounding towns. An office visit is usually not necessary for an uncontested divorce case. Most clients prefer the convenience of discussing their case with us by phone and email. However, we are always glad to meet with clients in our offices.
We offer two options for completing a Virginia divorce.
One option is a divorce by written deposition, for which no travel is required. No office visit is necessary, and there is no court appearance. The depositions are a set of questions that we email to you and your witness, which you and your witness answer at home, have notarized, and send back to our office. The depositions are submitted to the court in lieu of a court appearance.
The other option is a divorce that is finalized with a 2 minute court appearance. The client, witness, and one of our attorneys appear for a simple hearing during which the attorney asks the client and witness some simple yes/no questions regarding the marriage and separation. We email the questions to the client and witness prior to the hearing, then we review the questions with you by phone.
